Studio, Gallery and Contemporary Projects
Origins
Casa Rosanna was founded in 2023 within the former design studio of Rosanna Toso, the last artistic director of the glassworks until the 1980s.
Those rooms, once filled with sketches, colours and projects, have come back to life as a place where memory and creation meet.
Casa Rosanna is not merely a gallery.
It is a creative house — a space where history is continually renewed through new dialogues, in an ongoing interplay between heritage and experimentation.
Early Collaborations
In 2023 the space hosted collaborations with Micheluzzi Glass, Marina and Susanna Sent, and Barbini Specchi Veneziani, bringing the Fratelli Toso heritage into dialogue with contemporary production and building a living bridge between past and present.
170th Anniversary – 2024
In 2024, on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the founding of the Fratelli Toso glassworks, the artist Gizetaworks reinterpreted in watercolour some of the manufactory’s most iconic works, capturing the poetry of transparency and the chromatic strength of glass through a delicate yet vibrant language.
During Venice Glass Week, the artist also created a large site-specific panel, interweaving symbols of Japanese culture with some of the most emblematic murrine of the post-war period — in particular the Kiku, stylised chrysanthemums that testify to the cultural dialogue between Murano and Japan.
The Secret Garden – 2025
In 2025 Casa Rosanna transformed into a true Secret Garden: flowers and foliage, transparencies and reflections became metaphors for rebirth and memory.
Within this poetic setting emerged the collaboration with master glassblower Simone Crestani, invited to reinterpret designs from the Fratelli Toso Archive — an authentic treasure chest of creativity and cultural heritage.
From yellowed papers and original sketches — spanning Liberty and Art Deco — twenty-one transparent glass goblets blossomed once again, delicate and vital like shoots of a past that continues to generate the present.
Today
Today Casa Rosanna stands as a laboratory of ideas, a gallery and exhibition space open to cross-disciplinary dialogue.
A place where the history of glass meets contemporary language, and where curatorship becomes a tool of connection between memory, creativity and the future.
